Words of LifeLiving in the Past For many people, life in the past is filled with "regrets". We hear it often: "If only I didn't do that", "If only I made a better choice", "If only I listened", "If only". People have regrets over things they did or didn't do. BUT we can't continue to grieve over a situation that we cannot change. If we continue to look back and dwell on the past, we can be preserved like a pillar of salt as Lot's wife was.
Isaiah 43 18 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. Luke 6:35 "I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You'll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we're at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind. Matthew 21:28-31
28 “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’ 29 He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?”
They said to Him, “The first.” |
