Letter from Lucille Dawkins to her son Dave

Dear  Dave,

Thank you for your letter.

We love you so very much. Words will never adequately express our hearts of gratitude to the Lord for giving us such a precious son -- when I say the best son in the world, I mean it.

I know what you mean when you say "An invisible hand on your life which you cannot shake"; I have also recognized the seasons in your life where you have tried to shake this calling off your life. You sensed the sacrifice ahead. However you also knew that the sacrifices pale into insignificance when you have been blessed so much. Blessed to be a blessing; Restored to be a restorer. What a privilege to preach the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ which is the power of God unto salvation.  Never waver from the Word of God, the Name of Jesus, the Blood of Jesus and the Precious Holy Spirit.

I thank God for graciously showing me when as a young 20 year old pregnant mum to be, that the child I was carrying was a son, and that HIS hand was mighty upon the baby I was carrying and that my baby was going to be used from a young age.

The last couple of days for me have been like when the time came for you to be born, on that cold, stormy winter’s night. During that night, the lights went out in the labour ward. And I had laboured all day and night to deliver you. After being blind for 5 hours, it was time for the transition stage, the final 15 minutes before you were born. At that point I felt I could not go on; there was no strength left in me. I recall the doctors and nurses raising their voices commanding me: “Push Mrs. Dawkins or this baby will die”. I remember so vividly that at that point, I whispered "JESUS" – then a supernatural strength took over and you were born.

The following is a quote: “Think of your life as a few laps of a marathon. A marathon that your entire family line is running. Now consider what you will leave as an inheritance, not your financial assets, but spiritual blessings. Your spiritual bank account either holds equities like integrity, determination, godliness or iniquities like addictions, bad attitudes, wrong mindsets that will be passed down. So keep giving, keep serving, build an enduring house for future generations”.

I pray the joy of the Lord will be your strength as you/we serve Jesus with all our hearts.

Remember it is not about us, it is all about HIM. Jesus our Saviour!

Love you lots,
Mum xx
